If Daytona Beach is known as spring-break heaven, then Gray Rock ORV Park in Birmingham, Alabama, is known as 4x4 heaven. A few years ago we wouldn't have thought of going down south for real-world wheeling, trails, or rocks. Luckily, we discovered the area in "Alabama's' Dirty Little Secret" (Aug. '02) and witnessed the great action, resulting in our Ultimate Adventure (Nov. '03) traveling to the Gray Rock ORV Park last year to see for ourselves. Sure enough, the place is awesome, so we returned for the Fall for All, hosted by the Central Alabama Offroad Society (CAOS) and the Off Road Connection. And, as expected, we were not disappointed.
Gray Rock is the type of park you'd be proud to own yourself, and Tony and Myra Cousins do own it with as much pride as we'd have. The trails range from near-impossible to almost-stock doable, and the entire area is clean and well organized. CAOS and the Off Road Connection planned the Fall for All with Saturday for trail riding and a rockcrawling competition on Sunday. If you weren't into that, the trails remained open for fun and frolic on your own. Keith Bailey and Leah Light of the Off Road Connection invited us out to the event and shuttled us around to give you the best look at what goes down at the Fall for All in the Alabama hills.
